Saltburn beach, North Yorkshire, UK. Taking my big hairy Golden Retriever for a walk along the beach late on a summers evening. That’s when it came to me that the iPhone would change my world and that I needed to plan.
I’d left the mighty Canon 1DS behind, as it was just a nice evening for walking on the beach and what was the point in lugging it around, possibly risking sand contamination?
Then the light began to change and I began to regret not bringing it.
All I had was my then-new iPhone 3GS, no camera apps, simply the standard Apple camera. I shot this as the sunlight changed the colour of the sky and though little of it. It was only when I returned home and saw the image on my laptop screen full size that I realised that the iPhone was a perfectly good camera.
It began to change the way I worked.
